Our mission
Most travel sites cover the same hundred well-known cities. We think every worthwhile place deserves a guide you can actually trust — a small coastal town, a national park, a mountain village, a hidden historic district. CollabsTravel exists to document those places thoroughly and honestly, in one consistent format you can rely on no matter where you are in the world.
What "source-verified" means
We do not invent place names or fabricate facts. Every destination in our database is grounded in authoritative, public sources:
- U.S. Census Geographic Names Information System (GNIS) for American places
- National Park Service and official protected-area registries
- GeoNames, the open global gazetteer
- PADS / Audiala for protected-area boundaries
Guides are written from that verified backbone. Where we summarise information from third-party references, we keep it factual and attribute licensed imagery.
Photography & licensing
All photography on CollabsTravel is used under open licences — principally Wikimedia Commons and Openverse (Creative Commons and other freely-licensed works). Attribution is shown on the guides where those images appear. We never scrape Google Images or use photographs without a licence that permits our use.
How guides are built
Each place gets a consistent structure: an overview, how to get there, the best time to visit, what makes it worth seeing, and practical FAQ-style answers. That consistency is deliberate — open any guide, anywhere, and you already know where to look. Content is generated and reviewed in continuous background pipelines, so coverage keeps growing over time.
